Hi all,

Thank you very much for choosing CSCI 141 Computational Problem Solving Section 3. I will be your instructor for this Fall semester. This semester will be a very special one and we are going to go fully online. But, I will try my best to create a feeling of community so that you can get support from your peer students, TAs, and instructors.

We will use Piazza as the main communication platform. On Piazza, you can ask questions and get answers. The Piazza course is merged with sections 1 and 2 since we are going to use the same lab assignments. You can enroll in Piazza using this link piazza.com/wm/fall2020/csci141fall2020. You should also be able to access the BlackBoard system from blackboard.wm.edu. We are going to use BlackBoard to manage lab assignments.

For in-class activities, we are going to use the combination of Zoom and Google Jamboard. Please login to zoom with your William & Mary account (select SSO login and use "cwm" as the domain name) and use this link to join the class https://cwm.zoom.us/j/99923602691?pwd=SnFNdndaRlVPL3kxNEdXck5iQjYyZz09. Also, you can use this link to access the Jamboard (collaborative whiteboard) https://jamboard.google.com/d/1XKC_fb5PFbRpq7i7N13WOY-OIJnI3flC7qBWrukldnk/edit?usp=sharing. You need to login to your email.wm.edu account to be able to join the Jamboard session. I allow everyone with the link to draw on the Jamboard. Please feel free to try to draw something there before the class starts.

Also, you should have all selected the associated lab course. There will be no class this week and the earliest lab will be on August 26. We will provide you the link to join the lab later. In the lab, one of our TAs will work with you on the lab assignment. I will also post the syllabus before the first lecture.

I hope talking to you all this Thursday over Zoom. BTW, please call me Yifan rather than Professor Sun.

Thanks,

Yifan Sun
